  1. Raulin Rosendo: De aqui Pa'lla

    Raulin Rosendo: De aqui Pa'lla

    €5.00

One of my favorite salsa vocalists, Raulín Rosendo, is back with a new release that will not disappoint. This straight-ahead salsa project, with participating musicians such as pianist Isidro Infante, Luisito Quintero on percussion, Johnny Pacheco -- and many others -- on coro, this one is strictly for the dancers. There are lots of solid danceclub-ready tracks here: 'Vuela Mujer' and 'Tengo Envidia' are sure bets. And Mr. Rosendo's 7-1/2 minute 'Homenaje a Héctor Lavoe' will be sure to get those old-school dancers out in front. ('La Banda', 'Abuelita', 'Mi Gente', are but a few buttons that are pushed. A guaranteed applause) Ultimately, it's the cover track, 'De Aqui Pa'lla', a Sony Ovalle arrangement, that is the killer here. DJs make note: Play this track.
    Raulin is on fire.

  2. Tito Gomez: Comenzando en Cero

    Tito Gomez: Comenzando en Cero

    €5.00

The singer, backed by a high-energy band, sends his tenor voice ripping through the monas. This is power salsa, pitched high, with the mix favoring the upper register. It's dance floor magic, rocking and exciting. Gomez's voice has a tear to it, a cry that gives even his come-ons sadness. Luis Vargas is a guest on a batchata; the rest is non-stop old school salsa.

Grupo Caribe is a swinging Mambo Salsa Dance Band! The band performs traditional Salsa dance music with pulsating percussive riffs, steady piano and bass montuno vamps, adorned by a rhythmic and melodic brass section, and full- bodied vocals, reminiscent of the 60's and 70's. Learn More

  5. Dave Santiago & Latin Affair: NY Salsa

Dave Santiago & Latin Affair: NY Salsa

    €5.00

Here's some pure, unadulterated, swingin' salsa gorda from the Bronx that will most definitely get them onto the dance floor. No romantica filler material, only capital 'S' Salsa decked out with with four trumpets, two trombones and terrific tres and cuatro accompaniment by Louis 'Carrasceao' Rodriguez. There are two generations at work here: Dave Santiago Sr. is one of the lead vocalists and plays guiro and maracas. His son, Dave Santiago Sr., plays flute. Latin Affair also boasts one of our favorite New York congueros, Papo Pepin. (review by Descarga)

  6. Sonora Carruseles: Mucho Mejor

    Sonora Carruseles: Mucho Mejor

    €7.50

Great Colombian band (well, based in Miami, with musicians from all over the world) that merges the power of Fania era salsa with modern Colombian blast-off swing. Great singing, cool nasal coros, Colombian style, great band, good material, including a medley of Hector Lavoe's "La Murga" and "Che Che Cole," plus classic tunes like Ray Barretto's "Nadie Se Salva da La Rumba," and a bunch of originals. This is letter perfect salsa, no mistakes, no bad tempos, no intonation problems; everything's for dance euphoria, percussion slapping away, the coros accentuating the proceedings, the singer winding his way through the backdrops, everything coming together in a non-stop festival. Highly Recommended. (review by Descarga) Learn More
  7. Clave Sonera: Rumba para Viena

    Clave Sonera: Rumba para Viena

    €5.00

Cross cultural meeting, led by the German pianist Gunther Bruck, who can bring a band together, that's for sure. Recorded mostly in Brooklyn, the album features some heavyweights from Venezuela, including the brothers Quintero, Luisito and Robert, along with Nelson Gonzalez on tres, and the Colombian/Austrian bassist Juan Garcia-Herreros. The music's really flexible, dropping into timba breaks, then moving into salsa; it's made by masters, and you can tell. Learn More
  8. SalsaIsGood: Salsa on the Beat

    SalsaIsGood: Salsa on the Beat

    €20.00

A great way to practise your salsa steps whilst you perfect your timing. A basic dance class plus music tuition in a single CD. Made easy by using vocal, visual and written instructions. Unlike other rhythmic CDs, here each instrument is isolated and analysed individually. They are then reassembled one by one to form a full salsa band. An ideal tool for both dance students and instructors alike.
Dancing "on the beat" has never been so easy! Learn More
