Jazzy Dance Co

Carlos Leon has a background in Tae Kwon Do (winning the Mexican Nationals) and is a Software Engeneer.
Once he moved to Austin in 2000, he quickly found himself taking dance lessons and inspired by Azucena, he decided to learn Salsa so he could dance with her. Months later, he was competing at the Texas Salsa Open 2005 with her where he won first place. In December of the same year, he won 6th place at the World Salsa Championships held in Las Vegas.

Since then, Carlos has performed in New York City, Los Angeles, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Acapulco (Mexico), San Juan (Puerto Rico), San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Memphis, and throughout Texas. He has also appeared in various TV shows such as the Cristina Show, Univision’s Que Pasa, ESPN International, Fox 7 News, TV Azteca, and Escandalo Latino. Carlos has taught workshops internationally and nationally in Salsa events such as the Acapulco Salsa Congress, International Festival of Dance in San Miguel de Allende, and the Houston Salsa Congress to name a few.

Currently, Carlos continues to work as a Software Engineer at National Instruments and in his free time, he dances, performs and teaches Salsa with his partner Azucena. He co-directs his own dance company, Jazzy Dance Company and if that was not enough, Carlos maintains the entire Jazzy Dance Company's website which he designed from the ground up.

Azucena Perez has a background in swimming and worked as a software engeneer.
In 2005 Azucena found herself in the finals at the World Salsa Championships where she and Carlos placed 6th. In February 2006, she left her engineering job to pursue dance professionally.

As an instructor, Azucena is well known for her natural ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve their very best. Her motto is “Everyone can dance!” and her students are a testament to that belief. Azucena has taught workshops internationally and nationally in Salsa events such as the Acapulco Salsa Congress, International Festival of Dance in San Miguel de Allende, and the Houston Salsa Congress to name a few.

Azucena continues to teach, choregraph, and perform in major Salsa events around the country. She's based in Austin, Texas. Along with her partner Carlos, she co-directs her own dance company, Jazzy Dance Company, the first on2 dance company in Austin.

Jazzy Dance Co teaches on1 and on2 and their dance products are available on Zone Free DVD and CD ROM
